FAQ – INCEPTION P2I/D2I calls

1) INCEPTION provides an official template. Is it mandatory to comply with it? Yes, the proposed framework includes all the information requested for the evaluation process. 2) Is it possible to write my proposal in French? Your proposal should preferably be written in English. As the evaluation can be carried out by non-French-speaking scientific personalities, the INCEPTION steering committee encourages applicants to submit proposals in English. 3) Can an INCEPTION project integrate a foreign partner or International Institut Pasteur Network (RIIP) team? Yes, it is indeed possible to integrate a foreign partner or a team of the RIIP in your consortium, but no budget will be received by this team. A demonstration must therefore be made in the proposal that this partner is "autonomous" concerning the human and financial means necessary for the performance of the tasks in which it is involved. 4) Can an INCEPTION project integrates plaforms and core facilities of Institut Pasteur and other Inception partners as research unit/team ? No, the projects requires two research units (G5 included). The platforms and central installations of Institut Pasteur and other INCEPTION partners ARE NOT considered as research units / teams, but they may be added to a consortium project (with a budget) comprising at least two research units (G5 included). 5) Can an INCEPTION project only includes research units from Institut Pasteur or only research teams of an INCEPTION partners? Yes, all INCEPTION projects must be led by two or more research teams in complementary areas of expertise. One of the research teams leading the project must be affiliated with Institut Pasteur (Paris, G5 included); The other research team(s) must be affiliated to Institut Pasteur or to another partner of INCEPTION. 6) Can an INCEPTION project be only composed of two research units of Institut Pasteur ? Yes, INCEPTION projects can be led by two research units of institute Pasteur, but these units must be in complementary areas of expertise. 7) Can an INCEPTION project be only composed of one research unit of Pasteur and a platform or core facilities of INCEPTION partners? No, INCEPTION projects must be led at least by two research units in complementary areas of expertise. The platforms and central installations of Pasteur and other INCEPTION partners can be added to the project with a budget but they cannot be considered as co-leader. 8) Can an INCEPTION project integrate a research unit funded last year? No, all teams that benefited in 2020 from a PhD grant (D2I call) or research project grant (P2I call) are not eligible for 2021 calls, with the exception of teams that have obtained (2020) or are requesting (2021) low funding of less than 10 K€ (in total). In this case, this team comes to reinforce the project but cannot be counted as being one of the two leader or supervisory teams. - Can a research team apply for P2I and D2I calls in the same year? Yes, but a same team cannot benefit in the same year (2021) from a P2I grant and a D2I fellow.
